Tampa Sinkhole Attorney
Commercial properties affected by sinkhole activity face unique challenges. One moment your business could be operating just fine, and the next it could be stalled because sinkhole damage renders your building unfit for use. Although it is rare, the ground could collapse and consume your equipment. If tenants rent space in your building, sinkhole testing and repair could disrupt them as well.
At Corless Barfield Trial Group, we represent commercial building owners in Tampa and the surrounding communities who are dealing with sinkhole damage. We understand how this problem can affect your business investment and will work hard to help you get the issue corrected as quickly and effectively as possible. From the initial engineering evaluation through the final repairs, our experienced legal team will be by your side, helping to protect your rights.
Repairing Commercial Sinkhole Property
If sinkhole activity is confirmed on your commercial property, there are two methods of repair:
- Grouting — With grouting, large holes are drilled into the soil and filled with pressurized concrete. The concrete then hardens, filling any gaps left by dissolved limestone and strengthening the loose soil.
- Underpinning — Underpinning involves lifting a building, driving steel rods deep into the ground and then resting the building on those rods. This transfers the weight of the structure from the soil to the bedrock deep in the earth.
The engineering firm that performs the sinkhole activity testing will recommend a repair solution based on the nature of the soil instability on your property. In some instances, they will suggest a combination of both methods.
